Endoscopy

Endoscopy is another useful tool used to view and diagnose pathology in the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract without the need for surgery (though sometimes the diagnosis will lead to surgery). It does require the animal to be sedated or under anaesthesia but allows viewing of the palate, oesophagus and stomach, as well as the colon to help diagnose pathologies. Sometimes we can use tools to take biopsies or retrieve foreign bodies without the need for surgery.
