Puppy Preschool (PPS) can be a really important socialisation tool for puppies that are sole pets, or live in an otherwise socially isolated environment, especially until vaccinations are up to date. Puppies have a limited social sensitivity time in which to easily form positive associations with the meeting of other dogs, and PPS can be an ideal tool to introduce your puppy to other puppies of the same biological and mental age in a positive and friendly way. Socialisation is so much more than just exposing your puppy to as many dogs as possible; it must be a positive experience or your puppy may develop a fearful association with other dogs and that’s the exact opposite of what we want! We have staff on hand that can read doggy body language to ensure your pup is happy with their interactions, and if they are a little shy we will show you ways to manage that too with more gentle and gradual introductions and advice. PPS will also guide you through basic training to start laying the foundations for successful training to ensure the best human-animal bond for the lifetime of your pup.
Kitten Kindy is similar though more aimed at creating positive associations with the clinic early on, as most kittens are adopted after their socialisation period and cats do not have the same social needs as dogs. Kitten kindy can be provided on request, if numbers are sufficient.
